| Further Information: The carnation Tortrix is the only species within its genus (monotypic) and reported to occur in Europe, North Africa, South Africa, Anatolia and North America. The wingspan of this moth is 18–22 mm for females and 15–17 mm for males. Adults are on wing from May to June and again from August to September hence during warm periods of the year. The larvae feed on a wide variety of herbaceous plants and can become a pest on olive trees and avocados, although it is mostly encountered on carnations, through which is easily introduced to different regions by horticultural trade. |
